Default Totaled my 2010 FX2 SuperCrew! I’m devastated!!!!!

Totaled my baby last week. Twelve years of daily driving, blood, sweat, money, tears, upgrades, maintenance, awesome *** road trips, friends that weren’t your friends but….since you have a truck they found their way to you, and 300k miles. Damnit, THAT was a good run. May she rest in pieces. So, my 17 year old daughter was with me. We are both ok for the most part-She’s got a Compression fracture at L4. I’ve got a burn from air bag in my left arm. I feel horribly because she’s on her 3rd year as her JROTC Rifle Teams Capt. She is a top shooter in our tri-state region. Looking for scholarships and possibly a Rifle coaching Career. Oct 7th we competed in Nashville at Montgomery Bell!! YALL, that was a great road trip to end our journey with that truck. (Yes She kicked ***).

My point for this post is prayer requests and I’ve got two things I wanna address or ask about.

1). It was paid off though I keep full coverage-anyone have any input or experience dealing with State Farm on getting fair market value? They have been cool so far, but Im
waiting on the estimate. And this market is **** I don’t wanna have to purchase but oh well.
2). is there anything anyone needs that I can get off the truck? I’ll sell it at a cheap *** rate. My factory color is Ingot Silver. I feel really like she should be an organ donor of sorts. FoMoCo all the way babe!!!! You may private message me or post here. I’ll get some things off for me. Like I had just done some speaker upgrades (Kicker) & had a carbon fiber dual exhaust tip installed. My tail lights are after market but intact.

PS: give me some direction on a new one. I want maybe 13-18? What’s y’all’s suggestions. What NOT to get works too but I’ve gotta have a V8 and leather.
Thanks for letting me verbally vomit all over your day! Xoxo

Insurance is going to total it, they means they own it unless you buy it back. They will not pay you for upgrades you did, because your insurance quote was for the way Ford made it, not the way you made it without notifying your insurance co.

Gotta have a V8. Just curious why? Have you driven the EcoBoost or are you a it just has to be a V8 just because type guy? I wouldn’t trade my 2.7 EB for a V8 ever.

Also, 13-18 splits up two generations. 15-20 is the new aluminum bodied trucks. They’re great in my option.

My first car was a Mustang GT: 5.0. Fast forward a few years-2001 F150 SuperCrew Lariat. I adored this truck and that’s how I fell in love with the f150. I kept it for ten years. Sold it and got my 2010. So to answer your question plain and simple - I’ve just always had a V8 as a daily driver.

I’m just a woman (lol) that LOVES to go fast. I LOVE the control, the response and I prefer to feel the engine, to hear it and want it immediate. It’s a completely selfish thing. I don’t care to race at a red light. Although if Im honest, Im a Gemini and if I feel froggy, I leap.
I know a TON of 09-14 stuff as that was my niche for the past 11 years. I did my own after market installs and all that so I just have that knowledge.
I find myself wondering now-What’s my next year.
So you recommend me driving a V6-for sh;ts and giggles? Are they really that great? I’m happy to give it a whirl. I’ll try anything once!!!!

So, maybe you all can give me some direction as to what you love and don’t love about certain years.

Ill be real, I’m not looking forward to some of the more advanced crap. I remember having push start my best friends POS In high school, i don’t want to push start (even with a button) my truck. I don’t want to turn a **** to shift gears and I don’t want some computer helping me keep my *** in one lane. But Im willing to trade some things or the luxury of others. So any input or reading material you suggest, I’m happy to receive it.

Default Let me be more clear

I do understand they will not reimburse me for all the upgrades. That’s common sense in my
opinion. But I can see how you would think that’s what I meant. Lol I should have said just factory fair market pricing. As in, do they give you KBB? trade in? Out-right cash value? And if they don’t get to a number I’m ok with can I counter?? I’m being told different crap so I don’t want to screw my insurance company but I refuse to let them screw me: lol

agree here, you may start seeing prices come down, atleast i have here in DFW. I would consider selling you my '13 FX2 if i could find a new one at a decent price. I wouldn't expect to get much for your 300k/12yr old IMO. Expect the worst.

Hey I totally get it. And it’s your truck so you need to get what makes you happy. It won’t have the sound, but if you jump in a 15+ 2.7 EcoBoost, I guarantee you’ll be impressed. Not try to persuade you, just trying to open your mind to options.

Hi - I expect whether you buy at a Ford dealer or a private sale prices will probably be the same used, however depending on a newer pickup in the 2015 to 2018 range there is so much electronics in these newer trucks you’d certainly want to buy an extended warranty even if it’s 8 years old with low miles.

The prices for a 2018 with 45,000 to 50,000 miles will cost roughly $38,000 plus dealer fees & taxes.

As far as a F-150 from 2015 to 2017 there so many variables, a 8 year old truck with 75,000 to 85,000 miles on it could mid $30’s

engines
2.7 eco boost twin turbo or a 3.5 eco boost are okay engines however the 3.5 eco boost twin turbo timing chain was reconfigured after model year 2017 due to timing chain issues. I really have no experience with the 2.7L eco boost so I can’t comment. I bought my wife a 2019 ford ranger lariat with a 2.3L eco boost twin turbo and her truck has plenty of torque she averages 20 mpg, when I bought it new in March 2020 for $42,000 which included dealer prep, fees, and 125,000 mile/5 year warranty (a lot of electronics)

2.3L eco boost - okay gets about 20 mpg
2.7L eco boost - no opinion
3.5L eco boost - great engine after 2017 (I had a 2017 3.5L eco boost that needed the vvt solenoid replaced under warranty with only 28,000 miles on it in October 2020 and did some research on that model year engine) gets approx. 17 to 20 mpg
5.0L coyote - no opinion

Good luck with your hunt for a new or newer truck

As you had no option with the 2.7, it’s one of the most reliable if not the most reliable out of the engine offerings in the 15-20 trucks. 325 HP and 400 ft-lbs torque. It has a ton of low end torque. It 0-60s in 5.7 seconds. On top of that, I see 20-21 mpg around town, 25+ on highway trips at 70 MPH and about 15 mpg towing my 20’ Airstream.

Again, just trying to offer an option and point of view. I couldn’t be happier with this engine.

Sorry to hear about your truck . But it's an opportunity to start a new love affair and build new memories.

I agree it's a terrible time to buy but it's also a great time to sell. Not sure how it works down there but in Canada it would be based on book value and then adjusted based on where you live and what vehicles are selling for. You can pull a bunch of used vehicle ads with similar options/mileage to backup your negotiation with insurance.

2015 - 2020 is the next generation from what you had (12th to 13th gen). Within this generation, there was a refresh starting in 2018. The most obvious visual cue is the change in headlight and grill shape.
If you want leather than you're looking at a Lariat or higher but they only come with push-button start as far as I'm aware. It's one of those things you can't avoid so might as well accept it and move on in my opinion.

Best of luck to you and your daughter
