I'm liking it so far, and I do order stuff from you guys from time to time.

Now if only you could convince Rockauto to do the same

Something very wrong with the shipping calculator on that page, the shipping cost what the parts do and half again more.

Appreciate it if you could fix that, I'm not about to pay $140 to ship $104 in parts. That's ridiculous. I might pay $50 for 2 day.

Still have parts in the cart until a resolution to this obvious oversight is made.

I'd love to help but I need more details, feel free to PM me or post it here.

What are you after and where is it shipping? The website is pretty good but it can't know accurate weight and dimension on everything although we are editing items that we find issues with as the issues are found.

I wanted this part 9L3Z-17626-B $95.10, shipped to 70056 but when I hit calculate it wanted to charge over $124 for shipping alone.

I see that it's an oversize box at under 10lbs but when I calculated it thru various shippers $40 was the most expensive.

I waited for a reply and when I didn't get one, I ordered it from someone else and paid $31 for shipping.

Sorry for the lack of response through the website, that e-mail system can be a bit difficult to keep track of.

I can be reached here via PM, by phone 800-598-1484 or personal e-mail spowell@tasca.com.

As for the shipping cost, from us it looks like actual cost would have been in the $30-$40 range to ship. I'm going to see about getting the correct weight and dimension entered on the site so this isn't an issue on the future.

Here's a quick follow up on the issue above about the valance, this is direct from our shipping manager. When it comes to shipping cost it's all about the dimensions.

"You can do it for $30+ but it is really close to going over the dimensions. This is in a Bag, I measured it out at 76x22x6 estimating for us making a box around it. At those dimensions it costs $104 to ship to California. If it drops 1 inch on the thickness then it drops down to about $38. Trim it down so it is right up against the plastic and you can get to a low $30 number. "

Basically it comes down to risking shipping it in it's bag or in a box with zero padding, both options run a high risk of damage to the part and on something like this you could even have issues simply due to the box rubbing on the textured parts of the valance which can create scuff marks and shiny spots which no one would be happy with.

I hope the transaction with the other vendor goes well for you and I hope my explanation makes sense.

-Steve

.

I could understand if it were a high profile item such as a side view mirror or other body panel but it's mounted on the lowest part of the truck susceptible to more damage than any other part of the vehicle.

Sounds like your shipping manager works on commission.

Nope, weight and dimension are weight and dimension. No getting around it.

Take the dimensions provided and enter them into your favorite shipping software and see what you come up with, then play with those dimensions by as little as a couple of inches and see what happens to the shipping cost.

As for not being a high profile part? In my ten years experience dealing with internet customers it doesn't make an ounce of difference to the typical customer if it's a high or low profile part.

They're paying for a brand new, unblemished part and they're not going to be happy unless they get a brand new unblemished part and I honestly can't blame them for that because I'd expect the same.

If you need something like this in the future and are not concerned about getting an unblemished part just contact me in advance and I'll personally make sure that we get your part to you at the absolute lowest shipping cost.

Well aware of how shipping works but when the cost of shipping makes or breaks a deal, it is what it is. A lot of people won't even blink and just pay what is asked, not me, I will research ALL costs until my eyes bleed to get the best price.

I totally understand that, I just wanted to make it clear how and why our site is pricing shipping the way it does.

There's also quite a few vendors out there that will quote low shipping and take a loss on the freight just to get the sale, I prefer to be right up front about the cost and why it costs what it does.

We actually do have some tricks for exceptionally low shipping on some items but this valance can't be shipped under this program.

Take the rear fender liners for example, at published rates you're looking at well over $100 to ship those in the lower 48 but we regularly ship them for $20.00.

We do our best to have the lowest parts prices and the best shipping rates but we can't underquote shipping cost if we're going to lose money on it or risk damage to the part due to inadequate packing.
