I just did it last week. It wasn't bad. The worst part for me was running the power wires through the firewall. One place I deviated from the directions was I didn't take out the passenger airbag. If you're careful, you can loosen the trim piece to the right of the radio faceplate and work the faceplate out. That saves a lot of time.

The 4.2 is not required, What are you looking for the complete kit or just the sub? Do you have a crew or super crew?

Benny,

I'm looking at getting one of these kits for my '12 F150 FX4 Supercrew. All signs point to the BL3Z18808G as my model, but that's going for near $1000. I am able to get a DL3Z18808A which appears to be the identical kit for $500 new; however, I have a sneaky suspicion the cable that connects to the OEM head unit is different since I don't have the 4.2" or 8" screen unit. If that were the case, even if I had to buy a $50 separate cable from the BL3Z18808G version, the cost savings would be substantial. So, my questions to you are:

1) Can you confirm the difference between the DL3Z18808A and BL3Z18808G is cable related? If not, can you elaborate on the differences?

2) If the cabling is the issue, could you obtain the BL3Z18808G to be used with a DL3Z18808A kit to connect into the OEM non-Sony system that I have in my truck?

I should stress that ~$1000 may be a terrific price for this kit, but $500 is even better I can provide a VIN via PM if you require it.

Nelson,

I am sorry I cannot confirm this. I would contact the seller or Kicker directly. The MSRP's for both kits are the same so there cannot be much differences in included equipment that is unless the AMP's electronics are different.

I bought the soundstage system last month. There are 4 kits. sub only for supercab, sub only for supercrew, complete system for supercab, and complete system for supercrew. In December, the price for the complete system was $1200. Now you can find them for $500. There are also pries in between.. If you add in the prices for the sub only kits it gets pretty confusing. Levitown has been one of the higher priced sellers. I think that's why Benny's being vague. I bought my system from Fairway Ford for $600. 877-532-4792. Ask for Kevin. I saw and ebay post for Rogel Ford for the crewcab complete system for $499. I don't know their number. You could try Google. Either one of them should be easily be able to tell you exactly which kit you need. By the way, I love the system.

I called Kicker prior to your post and did confirm there was only a cable difference between the two kits. I'm working a solution now.

Thanks!

I've been taking to Beau Rogel from Rogel Ford most of the day and we have a solution in place. Basically I'll get the DL3Z18808A kit and he's getting the cable from Kicker so that I can use it as if it were a BL3Z18808G. It's going to cost me about $100 more total, but $600 is still better than $1000, so I'm pleased.

Side note, I contacted Kevin shortly after my post, but although he's got the part in stock, he was unable/unwilling to sell it to me at the $549 price even though he's selling the other 3 kits at $549...safe to say he'll never see future business from me.

Why is the 13-14 complete kit cheaper than the 11-13? When i looked on ebay (fairway ford) the 2011 is $999, and 2014 is $549. Whats the difference between the two?
