How's it going everyone! Today we're here with another video in which we'll take a closer look at the wheels and tires on our truck. Even though the design of rims is quite a controversial topic, and it may never be everyone's cup of tea, we can confidently say that our F150 looks just right with this rims & tires combo and a 6 inch lift.

The rims are quite special because it's the very first off-road wheel designed by Asanti. This brand is famous for their high end wheels for premium sedans, sport cars and exotics. The AB811 wheel turned out to be really good looking and it comes in 3 sizes: 20x9", 20x12" and 22x12". For our truck we selected the top of the line 22x12" size and wrapped it with good old 35" Toyo Open Country tires. The coolest feature of these rims is the removable inserts in the wheel spokes. You can easily custom paint them or even wrap to personalize the design of the wheels if you want to.

More details about the wheels on our truck in the new video review from CARiD!

In order to complete the work in the wheels and tires department of our project truck we decided to cover the factory brakes with a set of aftermarket caliper covers. With the installation of large wheels, the calipers became exposed and clearly visible through the spokes, which doesn't always look good especially with dirt that builds up on them after taking the truck for a spin on a country road, so we picked the caliper covers to hide it and improve the cosmetics at the same time. Beside that, caliper covers give you that big brake look that we all love. It's not always necessary to invest much money in performance brakes if you are not gong to race the truck, so MGP caliper covers is a good solution for any project like this.

Watch how to install them on your truck in our next episode:

What do you think about this mod, and what else would you like us to install on this project truck?

If you were looking at something to make an EcoBoost sound more aggressive - Borla ATAK™ performance exhaust system will be the best solution.
It provides a deep rumbling sound on the full range of RPM. We did not expect a very big difference but the end result really surprised us!

I think those look really nice! How does the light output compare to the Anzos? Does the LED change color when you turn the blinker on (or go dark?)

Are those direct replacement for the stock "regular" lights that come on XL, XLT models?

The light output of halogen bulbs that come with these headlights is pretty similar to the anzo lights. However if you really want to get that extra bright diamond light, we recommend to upgrade them with aftermarket LED conversion kit for the low beams (we showed it above in one of our previous reviews).

The outer LED bar doesn't have the blinker function, so it stays white all the time. In case you want it to blink, your only option is Anzo Switchback Headlight. The coolest thing about these Recon headlights is certainly the design. Thanks to the mustang-like triple bars they look very impressive.

These headlights work as a direct replacement on all 2015&UP F150 models that come with halogen headlights from the factory. It means that if your F150 is equipped with stock HID (xenon) headlights, these lights will not work.

Both Recon and Anzo headlights are good in stock, so if you would like to get a quote, send me a PM with your shipping zip and email!

Since we've already started to work on the exterior of our Ford, we've decided to go further and upgrade it with a set of awesome side steps. Nothing says off-road truck like a set of rock sliders on it, so we've choose one of the best examples of aggressive looking rock sliders on today's market – M1 Series Sliders from Smittybilt. They're crafted from durable steel into a 1.75" tubing, strong enough to fend off damage to the vulnerable rocker panels on your truck. Each step comes with a matte black textured powdercoat finish for maximum protection. The wheel to wheel design features dimpled steps and dual purpose rear slider flare in front of the bed, so you get easier stepping and access to your cab.

Easy to install with no drilling required, these sliders are designed for hassle free installation and rugged looks. As a result, Smittybilt sliders turn our Ford truck into the ultimate off-road getaway machine.

Thank you for your response. One of the LED conversion kits I read about had a strong disclaimer on it --- "not approved for use on roads" ! Do you know what that's all about?

Sure, LED conversion kit is pretty similar to HID conversion kits that used to be extremely popular some time ago, however they are more advanced. LED bulb in a regular reflector type headlight may provide a pretty bad cutoff, and blind upcoming drivers, just like HID, so I can totally understand the origin of that disclaimer, however when an LED bulb is used in a projector type headlight, and it's aimed properly it provides a very good cutoff and sharp diamond white projection, without blinding anyone on the road. The regulations about these lights may vary depending on a state, so we suggest to check whether it's ok to use them with your local authorities prior getting a kit for your headlights.
We're in NJ and run them in a couple of our corporate vehicles without any problems so far.

Getting back to your question about the brightness of the Recon headlights, from what we observed it was on the same level with stock headlights, however the real benefit of these lights is certainly the design and sharp looking LED DRL/Parking lights!
