So I just received my sub from Bannerauto and I have a problem that maybe some can help with. The install was easy and fast. BUT I'm getting "sound" through the sub with the truck and stereo turned off! I thought my. Eighties had their outdoor radio on but when I parked in my shop and closed the door, I still heard talking very close to me. I put my ear to the back seat and heard mumbling. I pulled the back seat forward and sure enough, there's a grinding and talking sound coming from the sub and the amp is pretty warm. When I disconnect the power harness at the amp, the sound goes away. I plugged it back in without turning on the truck, and the talking starts up again! The truck is brand new and only 3 weeks old. I haven't tampered or added any other audio devices. I enabled the sub with FORscan and it fired up without issues except for the talking that it's receiving. I turned the stereo back on to see if it's on the same XM station that I can hear but it's not. It sounds like it's picking up a radio station. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it????

I have the same thing with my truck. As far as I know whenever you open the door it powers up the ACM and when that powers up your sub is turned on. Therefore you get some sort of distorted feedback through sub speaker. It will stop when the ACM powers down. I think it’s on a 5 or 10 minute timer. Also the amp on the sub does get warm and I am certain that this is normal. Can anyone else chime in here if they are experiencing the same performance from the factory kicker sub.

Unfortunately this part is not working in my truck. I enabled both settings in the ACM on ForScan and im getting power to the Sub assembly (Amp module gets warm as well), but there is nothing coming out of the speaker. I've checked all connections and it's all good. It like my radio won't support this sub.

I have an XLT with the Base 300A package and I suspect that maybe the problem and I need to have the 301A package and up to add this. Any workarounds? I don't want to do a mess of custom wiring to the Door speakers. I bought this for plug and play otherwise if I was going custom , id get something else.

Hopefully I can return this if it dosent workout. Ford said it would work yet it dosent.
From what I have found on a ford options web site the factory sub is not an available option for 300a package. Apparently because the 300a does not have Sirius XM as a radio option therefore the sub is not available. It’s crazy. I have a STX XL but have the 101a package and that lets me use the factory sub because I have XM and the CD player. I would have figured the XLT would have this as standard equipment.

Its also crazy I have the plug to plug into but nothing. Yeah I heard 101a supports it but not 300a. 100a dosent support it. Ford and the people selling their accessories NEED to be more clear about this. I sent it back. Connection was good, programming was good, just isn't compatible with my equipment package. Banner said it needs to be activated at a dealer which isn't true because ForScan practically covers everything IDS does. It's whatever.

Thanks-

Im sure they told you it needs dealer programming because they are a Ford Dealer. I installed mine and programmed it myself with Forscan. Saved me 125.00 programming fee.

Luckily they took it back. But I had to really DIG to find out that this accessory dosent work with my equipment package. ForScan does the same if not more than the dealer's IDS. I got hold of the actual programming instructions from Ford with pictures of the IDS screens and the options in ForScan and the options in IDS are the same. There are people on this forum who have gone with the dealership programming with the same result as me using ForScan....dosent work. Or does work with Forscan if the ACM is compatible with the upgrade.

i don’t think it is a compatibility issue wth the ACM. From what I have learned is that if you have the plug behind the c-post and you connect the sub to it, then activate with Forscan or IDS and get no sound it’s because the factory did not run the speaker wires for sound, unless you have the correct electronics package. There is I am sure a work around for this that maybe another forum member could address better than I.
