I finally installed mine yesterday. As stated earlier, it is super easy. The directions are more involved then necessary.
I have a 2016 XLT with conventional seatbelts... this is how I installed it.
- Fold down the rear seat
- remove the back half of the drivers side rear door weatherstripping
- snake the provided harness behind the 'C' pillar covering. The visibility is great while looking through the gap that is revealed once the weatherstripping was removed.
- connect the harness from the gap revealed from weatherstripping removal.
- cutting the carpet
-- for the left side -- lift the carpet and you will see a square piece of tape. That tape is covering the captive nut. Remove the tape, place the bolt in the captive nut. Lay the carpet over the bolt. With the bolt protruding under the carpet, cut around the bolt
-- for the right side -- 13 3/8" to 13 7/16" is about the conversion from millimeters. Measure from the center of the bolt (as shown in the direction) to the right approximately 13 3/8" and cut the carpet about 3" from the back. Peel the carpet back and you'll see 2 more captive nuts. Install the provided bracket.
- place the enclosure down on to the bracket installed on the right side, aligning the black post under the enclosure with the hole in the top of the newly installed bracket.
- install the bolt on the left side of the enclosure (it may be necessary to loosen and adjust the newly installed bracket to align the bolt hole on the left side.)
- push in on the top bracket until you hear positive attachment (click) from each "bolt"
- place the provided ziptie around the piece of blue tap on the provided harness and push it over the protruding bolt.
- plug the provided harness into the amp.
- have it turned on.
It wasn't necessary to remove the 'C' pillar plastic, seat belt, kick plate.... I guess that is the prescribed method... but it can easily be done as described above.
I don't like removing panels unnecessarily... once removed, they tend to rattle or squeak.
Hope this helps for those who haven't completed the install yet.
