Default Is winch theft a problem?

Planning on getting a winch for my 2012 EcoBoost 4x4.

Wondering if winch theft is a problem and if I should take any special precautions to make the winch hard to remove.

15 years of law enforcement experience so far and I can't remember one. But I'm sure it happens

It's easy to make it hard to remove. Tack weld the corners of the winch to the mounting plate and the plate to the frame.

You could tack weld the nuts to the plate. Use bolts that require something besides a typical wrench to take off. That"s just a few

volsbear: thanks for the voice of your experience.

everyone else: thanks for your idea.

I think when I get a winch I'll just mount it and now worry about it.

X2, I helped a friend mount his. You really don't realize how heavy they are till you have to hold it for a bit to get everything to fit. I told the guy, if they steal this thing, they can have it cause they earned it.

Did mine by myself and regretted not having no one to help me with it
