I have a fabtech 7.5 inch lift kit for 97-03 2wd f150 it would be perfect for your truck, i bought it for my 98 2wd f150, Unfortunately my girlfriend got into a wreck and totaled the truck
The lift kit is still brand new in box, i never got the chance to install it...
I'm looking to sell it if your interested, $500 takes it

You could get an 1.5" spacer up front. 2" coil springs and 3.5" lift spindles then add your body lift onto that but that would total over $500. I wish I had the money for Dootson's fabtech kit though...if you can swing it, I'd def. get Dootson's lift kit.

I would jump on this if I were you. The only downside is the appropriate tire size for that big of a lift will cost you some $$.

The most spring lift(spacer or actual lift spring) you can do is 2"s before you need aftermarket upper control arms. I would leave your spacer in and get a doestch or rough country lift spindle. That'l give you another 3-3.5"s so you'll be at around 5"s of lift. Then you'll need to switch to a 3" block to level the truck back out.

97-03 4x4s have torsion bars, not coil springs so that wont work.

As for the kits AFAIK they usually say that because the springs have a higher spring rate designed for lifting the V8 trucks so it could make the ride harsh.
