Arrow Tire Inflation Advice Wanted

So I'm about to pull the trigger on some 285/65r18 Toyo MTs and the suggested inflation is 80 psi. I'm guessing my psi should be around 40ish? I'm not sure with a tire like this. I wont be doing any major hauling just a jon boat or 1000 pound payload from time to time.

I keep my 275/70-18 Toyo Open Country AT2 at 42 psi and they've been wearing great and evenly. There's no reason you should ever be close to that 80 psi, not even if you're towing in my own opinion. If you are worried about what psi to run, find yourself a big parking lot and mark the tire straight across the tread with a stick of chalk. Drive straight forward and back until you see what areas of the tread that the chalk is worn off. Outside edges worn off: raise psi. Middle worn off: lower psi. Maybe you know this trick already but good luck!

its been a longtime since i've heard of this old tire trick...^^^^^......but it will work gives you a good idea of how the tire bulges with more air compared to the weight of the truck on it..

I have the Toyo AT2 in 285/65/18 and the MAX pressure is 80 psi not the recommended. I run 55 psi in the front and 50 psi in the rear tires. IMHO, that is where these tires feel the best. You will just have to play around with the pressure until you find that sweet spot.
