Default Tilt/Roll gauge accuracy

Hello Everyone,

How accurate has everyone found the tilt/roll gauge that comes with the FX4 Package?

The reason i ask is it seems to not accurately report when driving at highway speeds.

Also on a side note, i was doing a few donuts on the ice road here and during the donuts the tilt and roll gauges were reading like 60+ degrees. went back to normal once the donut was over.

Thanks

Sounds like they're acting normal...

Yes. If the system does that then it is probably based off an accelerometer which works off the direction of the forces. Imagine if you swung a bucket, the water will push in the direction outward of the swing. Same principle, sounds normal. For the highway speeds however, I don't see how that would be any different. They may just not be calibrated for high speed because that is generally not how they're used.

I haven't used the inclinometer much at all, but it would be interesting what it would read during hard acceleration and braking. And I have wondered if leveling the truck has any effect on it.

Just checked and the guage does not change during hard acceleration, braking or turning. Cant comment on the level as mine is stock

Hi. I have a 2013 F 150 and would like to know if there is any way to calibrate the inclination reading (pitch) that shows you what grade the road is under the truck aps. My reading is always about 4 degrees too low.

How are you measuring the road angles to that accuracy?

Default Accuracy of the inclinometer compared to road angle

I am a serious bicycle rider and have an accurate Garmin 820 bike computer that measures the road angle. Besides that as a 75 year old, I know the difference between a 6 degree slope and a ten degree slope when I am peddling. The readings are always about 4 degrees too low. Is there any way to calibrate this?

If you know the angles, then turn off that gauge in the truck. Otherwise, my only recommendation is to start reading the ForScan threads & forums.

Unless i'm completely missing something, the grade of a hill does not relate to the angle of the vehicle upon it.
