30-40 degrees would be a black-diamond ski slope (and potentially an avalanche path), maybe you mean a 30% slope? That's still a damned steep road, especially for a quarter of a mile. Lincoln Gap is one of the steepest paved roads in Vermont, if not the steepest, and it maxes out at 24% with an average of 7.2% over 6 miles. They still don't bother keeping it open in wintertime. If I had to do that in anything more than a couple of inches of snow, I'd be thinking about chains, probably on a tall, skinny tire.

I've been super-happy with Haks on past vehicles; I had them on my Suburban and the only time I managed to get that stuck was a result of not realizing there was a deep ditch on the roadside when I pulled over to let an emergency vehicle by.
Well, I'm guessing on the grade/slope/%. A 2 wheel drive anything can't make it up in the snow/ice. My neighbors 2wd ranger made it up one day, after a fresh snow, slipping and sliding, using the edges of the road, brute force, I say, I was impressed, but it took him an hour, and a pint of rum.

I have duratracs on both my truck and my jeep here in Utah and both have been great in the winter. My jeep had Blizzak DM-V2's before the duratracs and, while they were better on the hardpacked/icy stuff, they were not vastly better. In the deep stuff, the duratracs are fantastic and at least as good.

All in all, I did not wanna do the whole two sets of tires/wheels thing and I dont regret it. The duratracs perform great and I've never felt like they put me in a bad situation or that I could stop or turn if i needed too.

A lot of the commercial plow trucks(250's and 350's) in MA(where I used to live) and here in UT run duratracs if that says anything.
