stock to 35'' tire performance question
 

Im plannin on adding a 3'' ready lift leveling kit and 1.5'' add-a-leafs to my 2008 f-150 as well as 35/12.5/18. I was wondering if I have to change the gears to accommodate for the bigger tire size?? I also would like to know if 35'' tires will fit without rubbing.

yeah they will fit and you could regear but most people dont regear till they get to 37s and i know some around here that dont regear but its all up to the driver but yes they will fit. are you gonna put aftermarket rims or keep your stocks ones?

Alright cuz Ive herd that 35's take a quite a bit of power away. I was planning on gettin an Edge programmer to get a little of that power back. The truck will mostly be a Point A to Point B truck but I plan on tearin the woods up a little on the weekends. Will not regearing still be alright??

yeah man you should be good. i ran my truck on 35's for about 30k miles without regearing and i mud a lot. i even ran it on 38's with stock gears for a little bit before regearing and it felt fine.

how would u get ur spedometer back to an accurate speed after putting the 35's on there?

you can either take it to a dealership and get them to reflash it for around $100 or so. or you can get a programmer such as an edge and reset it yourself and also get some more performance.

shouldnt rub. im running 37's with stock gears butttttt yes you will loose power. To me I dont care but some people do. If you want to regear you can, but it is not necessary. Just like the guy above said. The edge programmer or the pro comp speedometer/odometer calibrator is a great mechanism to use also for calibrating.

I am a little concerned about this myself. I plan on a 6" lift with 35's and still hope to have enough grunt to pull a 6000# travel trailer!!!

i put new gears in plus did the edge chip and made a huge difference in the bottom end the top end i lost on but still can cruise at 75 just fine.
