SoCal Desert Truck Run (Sun Run)
A few friends and I have been planning an off-season, weekend desert run. We would like to get enough people and trucks to form a large convoy. Starting at the West end of Ocotillo Wells as the first rally point. Moving through Ocotillo on to Truckhaven to rally up again. From Truckhaven to the beach at the Salton Sea. Then back. At every rally piont and all along the way, is some of the best terrain this side of the Mississip. Probably in the world. I'm sure most of the local SoCal off roaders have either heard of Ocotillo, or have been there. But I don't think many have bonz'd the beach at Salton Sea, or have been out in a large convoy of trucks like this. We think it will be well worth the trip. So far, it looks like we're shooting for the first weekend of August time frame. We have been unofficially calling this "event": Sun Run. So named because it's going to be HOT!!! That's okay though, off roaders are tough as nails, that's why we go to events like Sun Run (now the official name, lol)! Send me a message if you would like more info. Very good! So far, we're at about 8 trucks who are in for sure. Another 6 or so on the fence, waiting for set dates. Again, we're aiming for the first weekend in August. We are trying to get a few thing set up for the event. We want to have banners for the rally points, t-shirts and other schwag. The numbers are growing, hopefully we will have at least 20 or more vehicles in the convoy. At each rally point, people will have a chance to bonz around, hit some rough terrain and just generally show off. All trucks are welcome, from 'Yotas to Unimogs. Make sure to tell your friends about it! I will have more info and updated as we draw nearer. Any body else reading this, if you would like to join us, please send a simple message saying you're in so we can have a general count of how many folks will be showing up. Thanx.
