You're better off in a 4x4 even if you don't use it on resale value alone.. Plus it's there if you get a sudden snowstorm or any other conditions where you might need it.

This forum is full of people complaining. Someone has a problem and posts on here about it. You never hear about the millions of Ford trucks out there that work fine and don't have any problems! You only hear about the ones that do have issues, and that is not a fair representation of these trucks, or of any product for that matter. I haven't had any issues with my 4WD and would never even consider buying a 2WD. Get the 4x4!

2 x F-150's with 4x4 and no issues so far.
53,000km on the 2011 and 46,000km on the 2010 - that they both get a lot of 4x4 use in the snowy stuff up here.

As an aside, I suck at shovelling my driveway. My truck was upset going in backwards on 4x2. I threw it in to 4 High and that puppy ripped through the snow. A little tear came to my eye. It was beautiful. 4x4 with rear lock is a must!!!

There's something very satisfying just 'driving over' through things. 4x4 makes that possible

Been driving ford trucks for 23 years, all 4x4 2 rangers an 1 f150 I have had for the last 15 years. I have had only 1 small issue on my 99 f150, the solenoid did not engage the front wheels. I believe it was just due to not being used much. Did not take it in and after playing with it it kicked in. After that I engage the 4x4 mode about 1 time a month and never had this issue again, that was 4 years ago.

I've run around in 4 wheel drives since the late 70s.
At first it was Jeeps, then Fords...

I HAVE NEVER HAD A 4X4 PROBLEM.

Creeping over and thru rocks at various hunting clubs, sliding thru mud and snow. In some cases I was towing an old camper deep into the woods.

Hunting, Fishing, and getting off the beaten path has kept me in a 4X4.
People used to warn me about 4X4s...
'Get a 4X4 and get stuck deeper in the woods'...
Maybe I've been lucky, maybe I've been smart enough to decide there are a few places I don't have to drive.
Ex. If you see a huge mud puddle with ruts going into or out of it.
Check it out with a pole, before attempting passage.
Buy a 4X4, use a little common sense, and it will get you home.

My 2008 XLT is only working in 2wd at the moment.......and is terrible in the snow like this. It was in the garage today,needs new hubs and actuators.....close to $1000 !!!!!!! Its very frustrating trying to figure out whats wrong because the system is so complicated. Its my 5th Ford pick up over the years and Id buy another though.
