Rear Axle Hop/Wrap
#22
Run Bilstien 5100's on all 4 corners , 2.1" up front and also run the road master active suspension set at the max 40% pre-load for an inch of lift in the rear. Also 33" Duratracs on stock rims. Launching hard can still get the wheels to break loose with no hopping or noticeable axle wrap. Very happy with how the suspension works and feels on and off road.

I shot a video of how bad axle wrap can be. I installed a set of Caltracs that solved the issue but had some undesirable effect, rougher ride, rattles & creaks so I'll be going with something different soon.

Mike,
I have the same, Caltracs with the same problems. Thats why I'm curious with what you ended up going with.

Once I get some of the other stuff done on the truck I'll look in to other options.

Hope I'm not reviving too many old threads here. It seems like the Roadmaster AS is maybe better for folks who haven't added a larger-than-factory block to the rear YET, but were considering it, since it hampers the effects of a larger block and provides the benefits of a slightly higher rake without having to even add the taller block. @Apples , If you were to set the preload to the higher setting (for 40% additional load capacity, which seems like a tall promise), would that be a safe setting for daily use, and how much height would it add? There also seems to be separate "standard" and "heavy duty" options for our trucks, depending on how much sag is experienced for the intended load, so there is a bit to consider.

I added RAS at the higher weight setting, and REMOVED my 4x4 block entirely. Ended up at stock ride height with all the benefits of RAS. Ladder bars are king for eliminating wrap tho...
