^ ^ Yes - I've seen those too. I wonder if anyone has them installed(?)

I have plenty of time to contemplate (and research) this, so nothing's gonna happen overnight or anything. At this stage I am round-tabling with this group because there are some clever people here. AND they own these trucks...which is an advantage I don't have.

Yet.

I do. They're great.

Between four Bilstein 5100 shock absorbers and the RAS, my truck rides and drives like a big, heavy sports car.

But, seriously. Where the truck used to react badly to irregular road surfaces under acceleration, or simply when rolling over train tracks would cause a foot-wide sidestep of the rear axle, the truck is now PLANTED. And smooth. And taut. And tight. And really great to drive.

I shot a video of how bad axle wrap can be. I installed a set of Caltracs that solved the issue but had some undesirable effect, rougher ride, rattles & creaks so I'll be going with something different soon.

I didn't read all the posts but what kind of wrap do you think this guy gets?

Wish I could have gotten a good pic. I'm guessing that's at least a 6" block.

Edit: we were stopped when I took the picture.

^ ^ ^ Yikes. Now that you mention it...

I'll be going with something different soon.

I recommend the Roadmaster rig. But be advised that the preload after installation will raise your rear suspension ride height by 5/8 - 3/4". I saw only 1/2" but I used less than their suggested minimum preload setting. All good so far, and with some mild off-highway travel.

Has anyone here seen or heard of a single centrally-mounted bar (device)? Maybe that would be the ideal solution if it could be retro-fitted without welding.

You mean something like this? Not my pic, but that's what I use on my leaf sprung Jeep and it works great for stopping axle wrap. I was only killing a u joint in 400-500 miles before the anti wrap bar. You **might** could get it to work with a bolt on clamp style mount, but you'd need to have some fab skills, or access to someone who does.

Yeah - that's the type of thing I was thinking of. I'm surprised that there are none being made for our trucks! But I have a tiny bit of experience with fabricators, and -- while the finished product is usually first-rate -- it's also breathtakingly expensive. So I need to continue my investigation on this.

Respectfully, there doesn't seem to be many other options than A) traction bars/Caltrax, B) Roadmaster AS C) custom fab multi-link, for your axle wrap/axle hop scenario.

Edit: D) Add a leaf, which can dramatically increase the spring rate and may result in poorer ride quality and still leave you with axle hop over rough road surfaces...

Have you taken a closer look at all at the Roadmaster Active Suspenion rig? I'm tellin' ya! it's a pretty sweet solution for a road-going leafspring rear suspension.
