Default F150 2009 Baja Suspension

I was looking to possibly change the shocks on my truck in the future to make it smoother over bumps when going offroad. My dad purchased a raptor and that thing just glides over all the bumps off road. The only thing i would change on the raptor setup is more of a lift. I am not looking to go cheap, but i don't want to completely change the look of the truck with huge fender flares or anything, smaller flares would be cool. (gotta compete with my dad)

Any suggestions will help, and i know that it would take 10,000 to make a f150 a raptor, im looking for it to be a little different than a raptor.

thanks guys, if you have any input at all feel free to share

King or Fox 2.5's all the way around, RPG UCA, RPG rear frame brace with fox bumps, National rear leafs. That will give you anywhere from 1.5-2.5 inches of lift, then run some 35 x 12.5 x 17 or 20 tires and wheels.

Thanks,

Wes

I am running Fox 2.5's all around w/ R/R up front and P/B in the rear with Camburg UCA's, SDHQ Raptor Frame Brackets and ABS Gaurds and couldnt be happier. The only reason i went fox over King was the color of the King shocks didnt fit my build at all and the Fox's blended much better. It drastically improved my DD feel and i got a great chance to go out and beat the **** out of it on some of the trails the Mint 400 runs through here in Vegas and they were amazing. Eventually ill upgrade the rear springs and get rid of the factory FX4 block but for now i cant say enough positive things about that set up.

Ya, its fairly easy to make a truck do what you are wanting to do. UCAs are a MUST. Camburg makes good stuff, but if you're in an area where prerunning is big, find some local fab guys. If your in Vegas, Robby Woolworth does great work. Also check out Revolution Race Design. There's race truck builders all over NV, AZ, and CA. For shocks, its all about what you want to spend, and whether you want American made, ect. Fox is a great shock builder, but, a lot of it is fron China. King shocks are all American made, built and tuned in the states from US parts. Either way, you want to go with 2.5s since these trucks aren't exactly light. If you're really feeling froggy, get your frame plated in the rear, run some King 2.0 bumps, get a set of Deavers, with some bypass or piggy shocks. Try and find a fabber that can gusset your lower arms and spindle, and you will be keeping up with raptors. Best thing is, you won't need glass for any of this.

Don't forget ICON, they make a very good product. They have an internal bump zone which would come in handy with the lack of real estate on your factory LCAs. They are the easiest to adjust as well.

With what has already been posted (UCAs, Deavers, rear bumps/brace, upgraded shocks/coilovers, etc...) you will see a drastic improvement in both on and off road performance.

I think you need to be realistic though, there's a lot more than just 3 more inches of travel in the Raptors favor. The extra width alone will make it much easier to handle at speed. I'm not saying you can't build something that will equal or surpass a Raptor, I'm saying to do it you'll need at least a M/T front setup.

Ah yes, forgot about them. Ya, at very least a MT. which you will have with all these things. Except Heim steering, which isn't necessary for what you'll be doing. If you have a 2wd I'd say put a LT on the front, small bed cage with some larger shocks, bumps, deavers, and a 3 or 4link and mob it. Lol.

thanks for all the replies. Whenever i am able to buy this setup (likely over the summer) i think i will be going with 2.5 king shocks in the front and back, some deavers, possibly bump stops and frame brace, and undecided on the upper control arms, but since i need to save up some more cash i have time to research and think about it

The truck is 4WD, and sorry if this is a dumb question but i am unfamiliar with what a "MT" is

Thanks everyone, feel free to correct me if im wrong or there are better options in anything i wrote above

MT is a Mid Travel. Its between stock and a long travel. Usually hust UCAs shocks, and heim steering.
