I went to the auto parts store and they told me it would cost me 900 $ and change to get neww gears for the truck.
Is that about right or am I being robbed ??

I spoke to the man behind the counter and he said it comes with all/most everything I would need to install it.
Also that he might be able to knock off a bit more.$$$
Soo it seems about right then.
Thanks.
Went to NAPA for the price.

Whoaa! That is for parts only? That would be way too high. You should be able to buy gears and shim kits for much less than that. Now, does that price include rebuild kits.

up here gears installed are around 1100 bucks plus 50 for an alignment, i am referring to 04-08 4x4 trucks specifically. but yea 900 for parts is highway robbery! when there doing the lift they charge 300 total + parts

gear sets generally run 175-200 per axle plan on 600-700 depending on brand with master install kits and labor runs 500 per axle.. In my neck of the woods gear installs go for about 1700 buy the time you get synthetic lube and or friction modifieres if needed.
note this price is for a ford superduty. the f150 may be less labor

seams like it would be faster to do on a f150
on the superduty most of the labor is just getting everything out of the way to access the gears. i will see for myself soon enough when i put in 4.56's
