Mid Travel / Long Travel Tech Thread
#161
This is a really helpful thread, it addressed some of my concerns about raptor suspension swap into 04-08 f150.
Now that I have some info and ideas, what would be the most ideal approach to built a 06 2wd midtravel daily driver ? Now this is only concerning front suspension at the moment. I have in mind a camburg 7.0 kit... but i have a second option which would be a pair of used raptor oem lca and aftermarket uniball raptor uca , with used raptor oem front shocks. If i were to go with the raptor setup I would eventually try to get some 3.5" lift spindles from dirt king (04-08 2wd) and then upgrade the raptor shocks to some raptor aftermarket coilovers to achieve the most performance as possible. Question is would my plan actually work if I were to go with raptor suspension with dirt king spindles (04-08 2wd) and raptor aftermarket coilovers? And would it be superior to the camburg 7.0?

I have had this kit for 2 years with no issues and this is my daily driver.
This kit will widen your stance by 3" per side and give you the option to run a Secondary bypass as well!
I believe the Camburg 7.0 is a lift kit with their spindles and does not widen the track width like a Raptor suspension.
See the attached pictures and let me know if you are interested!

Thanks for the reply @baja kits, i just realised you guys also sell midtravel if im correct? I would love that kit but unfortunately im on a tight budget thats why i want to go with raptor take offs, but its good to know you guys also have midtravel kits. By the way that kit is also compatible with raptor oem shocks?

We designed our F150 Prerunner kit around the 1st Gen Raptor Coilover.
This is considered an upgraded version of the Gen 1 suspension as I have a few Raptor owners who have swapped their stock suspension with this particular set up.

Sorry for hijacking the Brenthal Baja Kits advertising thread, but that shot looks a little like mine:
Finally got my front bumper done.
We went spring under out back and did some work in the bed. Cycles around 18 inches of travel.

10" coilovers won't fit non-Raptors unless you either add a lift (6" IIRC) or add longer UCAs/LCAs. Factory length travel (and factory replacement aftermarket) is 8". Understand that travel is a mechanical function and you do not gain travel by adding longer coilovers, you can only limit travel by using coilovers that are too short - obviously a bad thing.
Front - factory travel for a non-Raptor is 7-8". By replacing your upper control arms with Uniball versions, you gain about 1.5" of droop travel - so figure 9.5ish at the most. If you are 2wd you could probably get an inch or two more with a fabricated/heim setup at factory width.
Rear:
Yes - you don't 'need' the bump kit but it's highly recommended.
