Eaton helical limited slip question
I'm thinking of buying an Eaton Detroit Trutrac helical limited slip. I don't offroad, but live on a gravel road and drive in some areas where true 2wd is nice to have. I currently have 2000 2wd 4.6L with a 3.55 ls rearend. The rearend shaking is bothering me. I put friction modifier in the rearend 20,000 miles ago and it did help the shaking but now its back. Also, at 70,000 miles I don't know how much longer my current limited slip clutches will last(personally I think they are fine at the time being but idk).
Anyway, the helical gear sounds nice since it's maintenance free and shouldn't ever shake. Any reviews on this helical limited slip? Is it a good buy? Does it truly not shake? Is it truly maintenance free? Thought I'd ask the off-road guys what they think about this rearend since you guys would be the experts on the best type to buy.

The rearend shakes at 56-65 mph. I replaced the rear differential fluid and added friction modifier about 20,000 miles ago. This stopped the shaking for a while but now it's returned.

By shaking i mean you can feel the whole truck vibrating at those speeds and can really feel it through the seats.

Thanks for the response guys. I think I'm gonna do the swap. What gearing do you think i should go for? I was thinking 3.73s since the trucks completely stock.

3.73 is a good size gear for those tires. The Eaton is an excellent diff which will provide awesome traction. We sell a bunch to the Titan and Tundra as well as the F150 market with great results on & offroad.
We offer some sweet packages with aftermarket differential covers. The Eaton 912A562 TrueTrac itself we offer for under $500 delivered.

Thanks for the help guys. 3.73s are definitely what I'm going to get.
TAP auto I'll keep you in mind when I eventually do make my purchase. It'll be a while though. I gotta save up.

I installed one myself on my previous truck. Nissan Titan. Was a great truck but did not offer a Limited slip. The eaton Trutrac is awesome. Silent operation you wont hear anything while its working. If you install yourself get all new bearings and races, not worth trying to reuse
