Default Lift keys

On the 97-03 4x4s how are the re-indexed keys? I have heard alot of mixed opinions. Some say yes, others say it puts too much stress on the suspension components especially the torsion bars themselves. How many people on here are using them? Any problems? What about cranking the torsion bars in conjunction with the keys? I am looking at lifting my truck on the cheap, only looking for 3 inches or so but just suspension (not a fan of body lifts) because I need new tires and don't want to buy them twice

I was also going to use the keys but after talking to a lot of people and hearing how so many have had cv issues afterwards I just cranked my torsions up, but not all the way, around five years ago and haven't had not one problem to date.
