Default ICON rant

So not happy with these guys. First of all way back I had to get new control arms because they refused to sell me, or any other of their authorized dealers new bushings for them. Kept selling me $150 uni-***** they had nothing to do with what I wanted. They'd literally give me a part number for what I needed, then ship me something else. This happened 3 times, F them.

Now I have to rebuild my shocks so I order a fill needle and some shock oil. They REQUIRE I personally sit home and sign the delivery slip, for a $80 order. So I take a day off work today after missing them yesterday and the ******* from FedEx doesn't show up, but claims he did. So now I'm out another day, and the closest place they will hold it is 60 miles from my house, when they have a center less than 20 miles from me. So between FedEx and Icon I am done with ICON. King will be my next adventure after this rebuild and I will probably skip rebuilding my fronts and just buy new Kings so I don't give them another penny.

I suggest insisting that a vendor use the USPS for shipping to your house. Not nearly the headaches as FedEx/et al. FedEx pulled that on me last year. I use USPS whenever possible (= 99% of the time)

Yeah I love USPS and even the UPS guy is great. I live in a rural area and am literally the only house on the road the rest of it is closed off and the UPS will sign and leave things in my barn for me without asking. The USPS people have been super great too holding things for me. Fed Ex has always been horrible for me and if I knew they would ship like that I would have stopped them. ICON doesn't charge you for shipping until after you order and they figure out shipping, then they don't even tell you it needs to be signed for when they send the tracking information. Just unnecessary hassle in 2017 when every other store in the world knows all the information BEFORE you order.

I have had the issue of lazy drivers and misdelivered packages from both FedEx and UPS. Usually it is just a lazy driver who decides it's getting late and doesn't want to come down my road. I try to use the USPS whenever I can. We've had the same carrier for 10 years now and she knows as long as the truck is in the drive I'm home and will leave the package. If I don't answer the door she will look around back or stop by on her way back out of the area (I live near the beginning of a long dead end road). I will say that now that UPS uses the USPS for a lot of local delivery I haven't had a little "Sorry we missed you" sticker left on my door.

Thats really disappointing to hear. Im a little more curious on the reasons why you needed the parts and service from them. How many miles did you have on the rear shocks and control arms? Did the bushings fail? Shocks blown?

The shocks aren't blown, they need some nitrogen for sure and a rebuild to make em perfect. I ride my truck hard, I jump it and fly down trails as fast as I can without crashing. And that's my daily commute most of the time when I am not carrying fragile objects or people. So it's not a street queen and gets used. I have probably 30k on them and could get a little more out of them but they are getting a little softer and need a tune up. My rear passenger bushing (uniball) got a little messed up and does need to be replaced though. I love the shocks, not super happy with their shipping department and ease of getting the right stuff without serious research.

As far as the ucas, the bushing where it connects to the truck was wearing and just needed a new cheap rubber one. I think just getting crap in them for a year or more did it without keeping it clean. Why they won't ship them to me, I have no clue. But now I have Baja kit arms and JT will get me whatever parts I need.

Why would you have to sign something like this though? I've had thousands of dollars of parts left on my front porch.

Why? Because ICON are a**holes is my only guess. I can understand for a set of coilovers, but for a gallon of oil and two fill needles it is a bit much.

I am sure they have a reason like people kept getting stuff stolen. But tell me first is all I ask. Then I'd cancel my order and buy from someone else ha.

A lot of companies request a signature at delivery.

Whether or not they are shipping $5K worth of product or $5 worth. It's the freight company they are using and how it is already set up by their shipping department on their account.

King is also signature required but they need to be told, at the time of order, to have that waived.

Can the Baja Kit uca's be run with stock rims? I am not super happy with the ICON uca's. I greased the living crap out of them before install and after 500 miles they sound like a old bed frame when I go over bumps... I have had to resort to injecting grease with a needle in between the frame pockets and the flanges on the bushings...
