I think we're talking about different things here. There's only one IWE solenoid, it uses engine vacuum to keep the hubs unlocked. It's right behind the battery on the passenger side fire wall. It's a known weak point on our generation trucks.

Hello I have a 2006 f-150 lariat 4x4, I just bought the truck less than a month ago. I just found out there is a problem with my 4wd. When I switch it in 4hi or 4lo everything is fine I can hear it engage and the drive shaft from my t-case locks in. The problem is my front tires won't spin. I read about the iwe's and I have lifted the front end of the truck off the ground. With the truck is in 2wd drive I am getting good vacuum from each side of the vaccum hoses going to my iwe's, but hears the issues i can spend my driver side front tire and the axle turns so I'm guessing it is still engaged some how. I put a vaccum pump on it and it holds vaccum find doesn't leak down at all but it still want disengage. Now the passenger side front will spend freely in 2wd but when I put the vaccum pump on the iwe it will not hold vaccum at all it leaks down immediately, and if I'm correct without vaccum that hub should be locked in also. I just want some feed back on this please is possible for both of the iwe's to be messed up and since my passenger dosent hold vaccum and should be locked in and it isn't is it possible that it could be more than the iwe messed up? I just want to make sure it can't be anything else that a iwe and with my driver side still locked in could I tear up anything else? Thanks, Eric
