thank you for the descriptive reply. I like the sports but definitely more than happy with my FX4. Gorgeous truck all around.
My 2016 FX4 2.7 Ecoboost came with ELD, skid plates, center shifter console, painted door handles/bumpers, It seems to be a sport and FX4. Ford should be clearer on the differences in terms of sport and FX4.
Like others have said, the FX4 for 2011-2014 was its own trim level. XL/STX, XLT, FX2/FX4, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Lariat Limited, Harley Davidson, SVT Raptor.
The 2015+ FX4's are an offroad package. You can have an FX4 packaged F150 on all trim levels except XL (I believe). The Sport was also a package for paint to match bumpers, handles, and black interior. The Sport package was offered for the XL, XLT, and Lariat trim levels.
09-14 FX4 is now the 16 XLT Sport (in terms of PTM, interior look)
not it to be confused with XLT Sport Special Edition, which has the red stitching and black/red emblems, red trim on front grille.
the FX4 is no longer a model and has now become an off-road package for most submodels (XLT, Lariat, etc). It adds different shocks, skid plates, and a few other things mentioned.
the sport is a aesthetics package that can be had on Lariat / XLT that swaps chrome pieces(bumpers,handles,tailgate handle)to matched paint and gets the shifter console with black interior.
it took me a minute being used to 09-14 trims, but if you look at FX4 adds parts, and sport replaces chrome with painted parts it ain't that hard!
