Default Four Wheel Conversion

Im 17, and my parents got me a 2012 F150 Lariat 2x4. I don't even know why they make 2 wheel drive trucks, but whatever. I am looking around for a four wheel drive conversion kit that is reliable and not too expensive. I dont really know anything about the little parts and what have you, but I'm trying to learn. I don't know if it would be cheaper to buy a kit, or just buy different parts. Please let me know.

thanks,
P

There is no kit, you'll have to swap the front differential, transmission/ transfer case, and possibly wiring harness from a 4wd f150. The swap should be a direct bolt on.

No offense but if you can't afford to buy your own truck you can't afford to turn it into a 4wd. And even if you could, why bother? Be much, much cheaper to trade it in or sell it and buy a 4wd

I am satisfied. We have money, and they are letting convert it to 4wd. Don't tell me how to think. I'm more than satisfied

Man i had to scratch and claw for the 2000$ to buy my first truck no help from anybody. i would not accept a truck like that from anybody. It will feel wrong id rather be able to say i bought it myself and feel like i worked my *** off for it. You can never truly appreciate something like this unless you work for it. 4x4 is a luxury not a necessity. Be happy you have parents who buy you everything right now because later in life you will have to work. But who am i to say anything i am just a 19 year old working 50 hour weeks trying to pay bills and keep my truck running.
