Excessive mud build when off roading??
#11
^^^^^ Yep, exactly. I have a pressure washer and tried to clean my truck once in my driveway after an off-road adventure. It took me longer to clean my driveway than it did to clean the truck haha. Never again did I try that.

Been cleaning mud from under rally cars for years. What's the big deal? Get a hose or pressure washer and have at it. At least these trucks have some ground clearance to get underneath.
What we did was coat the bottom of the car with poly. You can do the same with the truck. After some time you need to drop the poly and get out what is between the bottom of the vehicle and the protection, but hey, it is all fun to do a bit of mod to the truck right?

The answer is clear to me: since there are eleven guys on here that think it's neat-o to get under there and get all wet & grody...
stop by one of their places on your way home and let them do it!!
(Take donuts - wrapped in poly)

I have not had issues with my mudflaps coming off or getting damaged in the 3+ years I've had my truck. Most mud flaps will only stop some of the mud from hitting your bumper. Most are designed to keep mud and rocks from hitting your paint, and just don't go into the wheel well far enough.

If you drive off road you're going to get mud on the truck. It doesn't hurt anything if removed promptly. I'd suggest a pressure washer to get into nooks and crannies under the truck. Mud flaps will help keep some of the crap off the paint if driving on dirt roads, but they just get in the way for serious off road driving.
Park it in the yard
If you put foam blocks inside the bumper mud will just collect behind it and cause rust. Better to just clean it

Yeah the local car wash is the place for me. After my last trip up Blueberry Ridge the other day, I posted an album with 3 photos, i had some serious mud. I will be able to use my brothers boat yard and their wash down pad once the boats have all been launched but until then i'm going to stick with the car wash. I am concerned however about the large holes in the front wheel wells. They lead directly into the engine bay and the ignition coils are right there behind the opening. My project for the day will be to fabricate some rubber covers for those openings. Anyone done this??
Deepest mud trenches I have been in yet. No Problem!!

one HOA I lived in the block captain had me pressure wash the street all the way down to the storm drain LOL since I washed it in the street. the M/T tire tracks up the block were visible for a long time. later on I cleaned the truck on the front yard instead. the cow manure and new dirt and water really helped the grass grow :p

I have mudflaps on my truck not for mud, but for snow and Ice in the winter. The front flaps keeps the water/snow/ice from being flung onto the running boards and building up. That way my kids can get in and out without slipping off of the running boards. Otherwise I wouldn't have them.
