Driving in sand for the 1st time
Hey everyone I'm needing a bit of advice. I'll be attending a jeep event this weekend with a friend. I will be driving my 97 F150 on the beach as well. I've done some research and based on what I've read I should deflate my tires some. My question is how much do I need to deflate to prevent getting stuck. I do NOT want that to happen and ruin my country girl ego. I appreciate all your help in advance.

At Hatteras I used to deflate my 250 down to 19. (You can go down to 10) The other trick is if the wheels start to spin-STOP. Then put your foot on the brake and rev up the motor to the point where you are creeping forward and the brake is keeping the tire from spinning.
And if if it’s anything like the East Coast, have all the needed equipment with you in case the beach police come around.
In Jersey it’s:
1) Fishing equipment and bait and tackle for each person over 12 years of age;
2) Tire gauge;
3) Spare tire;
4) Workable jack and board/support for jack in sand (3/4 in. x 12 x 12 in. plywood square minimum size)
5) Tow chain or ****** line;
6) Shovel;
7) Flashlight;
8) Fire extinguisher;
9) Auto first aid kit;
10) Litter/trash bag;
11) Minimum of 1/4 tank of fuel.

Thanks
Its on Carolina Beach and its a huge Jeep event. I'll be out there with probably 25000 other jeeps and trucks so someone could get me out I'm sure. I just don't wanna crush my ego.

I always do 15psi in here in jersey surf fishing. If I should get stuck I can then drop to 10psi.
Common items to bring are shovel, ****** strap and a board for your jack to sit on.
Also the sand near the water is extremely soft, best to stay away from it.

Hey everyone I had one little hiccup. I got 200 yards or so onto the beach and someone had dug a rut and I forgot to airdown any. I jumped out let my tires down to like 20 psi, jumped back in cut my wheels a little and boom I was out. We were trying to beat 670 jeeps onto the beach otherwise I wouldn't have forgot to airdown. Was a great weekend.

I get out to the OBX 4x4 beach every couple of years, I pull someone out every time because they didn't air down.
I did see a lot of Jeeps out there for the weekend too!
