Disconnecting sway bar end links
#21
It's all about controlled suspension travel. I have never flipped my Bronco and I have wheeled every 5+ rated trail in Moab for years, as well as the hardest trails in NM, CO, SD, and CA. The only out of the ordinary modification that I have made (suspension wise) is a "wristed" radius arm which really provides a huge amount of suspension travel (with long travel springs and shocks). On the road, I lock the radius arm so it doesn't have the wristed movement. With a stock Bronco suspension the radius arms act like a sway bar - limiting suspension travel, so they do tend to be tippy in off camber situations. I ditched the sway bar years ago...
Back to the topic of this thread, I wouldn't disconnect or remove the sway bar on my F150 unless I upgraded the suspension or had an easy way to connect/disconnect it for off-road use.

Disconnected, articulation increased by at least 5.5 inches (34%) on a 2014:
I would use a bungee cord or other device to pull the sway bar up out of the way, or perhaps only disconnect one side.
