This is a great thread on what can happen when the wrong equipment is used, the correct results, but scary to think what would have happened to his hitch if it broke.

Question for folks, I see people recommend a D-Ring or just push the loop into the receiver and use the pin.
the D-Ring makes sense, but is the pin really strong enough to solely support the force of the strap? I feel the added receiver walls would help spread the pins load, making the D-Ring safer.
Like trying to break a pencil with your fingers in the middle versus trying to breaking with your fingers at the ends. Leverage is what I am thinking.
It might be a dumb questions, I am not speaking from experience, and I might be way overthinking this. So thanks in advance!

As long as you dont have a crap reiciever, or pin, the pin will hold no problem.
If you are bending or breaking that............ you are doing some crazy stuff and should have stopped a while ago

This is the one I have used for years. Pro comp 20,000# strap and 3/4 d ring. I have used this to pull out a semi with my f350 jerking very hard pulling tree stumps you name it. I have two one is 5 or 6 years old never broke one.
