Default Cheaper tire option question

I have a question that I haven't found an answer to yet.
I have a 2006 F150 FX4 with 18" wheels. BFG ATs are nearly $300 a piece. Has anyone out there gone with 15" wheels? Tires for 15" are over $100 less each. For that, I can get new wheels and save some cash on future tire changes and not have any supply issues in the boonies. Would 15" tires give me more sidewall flex when aired down for sand?
Any thoughts?

The smallest wheel you can put on your truck is a 17" in order to clear the brakes. Check out Nitto tires, great tires at a lower cost than the BFG's.

I recently bought my tires off of tirerack.com and they were the cheapest site i could find and i looked for a month straight. I got 35x12.5 r15 Goodyear Wrangler MT/Rs for about $750. I recommend checking there to see if they have what you're looking for
