Default Bumper Build...So it begins...

Well, I buy a new truck and cant help myself, I just cant be happy(so the wife says). I decided to start myself a bumper build and finished the mock-up today after removing the bumper and bumper trim. The bumper will be 3/16" a36 plate steel construction with 1/4" mounts (no 1/4" front, since I have an EcoBoost and can not do the hidden winch). There will be a "grill"(cut outs) area in the front for air flow for the intercooler and tow points as the tow hooks once the bumper is complete will go away, its just too hard to do with cardboard... Here is the mock up for the face and one side, Im only mocking one side to ensure symmetry, that and working with cardboard is a nightmare...

we will see, lol... I've done my fair share of welding but THIS takes the cake... I have a feeling with all the added weight in the front Imma need some better shocks/springs.

I just finished my bumper, take your time, prep the pieces with lots of attention and tack it all together first and fit it before completely welding, looks like a great plan, can't wait to see the progress

I plan on cutting some slots in the front plate, something like the pic below... it will be done once I get the bumper partially welded to allow me to get a better idea of what it will look like. I may end up making a "removable" plate in the front to allow access to behind the bumper for w/e reason... haven't made a final decision yet... that's the beauty of doing this myself, lol
