Thumbs up Bilstein 6112 Installed

I have installed the Bilstein 6112 on my 2017 SC FX4 along with the 5160 on rear and the Icon UCA with the Delta joint. It looks great and the ride is superior to my former 2013 with the 5100 Bilsteins. It handles very nice with a firmer more in control feel. It eliminated all the bounciness of the horrible stock shocks on bumps, turns and stopping. The truck handles much better at all speeds and it feels better on curves at freeway speeds. It puts the fun back into the ride! It's lost the Cadillac softness but gained a firmer grip on the road. It's a good solid upgrade and a nice transition above the 5100's for those considering a change. I installed at full height and truck still has some rake to it. The front's were $660.00 and the rears were less than $400,00. The fronts are a larger than the 5100 and the rears are a reservoir design so they should offer better dampening. The factory rears had no rebound at all and could be compressed easily, so it explains the horrible ride. It's a nice alternative for those considering an upgrade at a more reasonable price point. i went ahead with the Icon UCA because it seemed logical given it was torn down and should offer a little more flexibility in the front end. The delta joint upgrade is an improvement in the design over the previous uniball, (time will tell). Shocks are subjective but given my ride still has the factory rims and tires on it it still was a good upgrade IMO. Larger tires are only going to make it ride even better . Hope this helps a few of you with some input on the new parts. Toyota guys have been running these for years and love them!

Thanks for the post, I had been looking at the step up over the 5100's.

Any pics?

No pics as yet but they look just like they do on their website. They work as advertised and we took a drive today on some very curvy steep mountain grades and they made the truck handle great. They made the driving more relaxed and make you feel in complete control behind the wheel on some tight turns and banked driving situations.. I'll try to get some pics up but being an old guy crawling around is usually low on my list.......LOL The worm clamps on the 5160's need to be upgraded to the nice looking brackets they have. I have the wheel well liners in the rear and they went on with no issues. The Icon UCA are a work of art and function and they worked like a charm. The factory UCA aren't as flimsy as they appear, when removed and examined more closely, but the Icons will allow more travel so I went in that direction. A guy could very easily use the Ford UCA and the Bilsteins and wind up with a nice upgrade on his truck that will serve him well. I'll try to get some pics up to make things easier to visualize.

I’m assuming these aren’t available for 09-13?

As far as I know just 15-18 for now, but suppliers may know if they are expanding product line to earlier models.

Any noise from the Icon UCAs? Been hearing some people have the squeaking and some don't.

no noise in UCA but care was taken to lube them up during install. They just went on a 120 mile off road trip and performed flawlessly along with the Bilsteins. Time will tell but after 1500 miles they are quiet and the improvement in the ride and handling is great on and off road. I just installed some fuel wheels and 275/70/18 Yokohama Geolanders 33.2" prior to the trip and was happy with how they handled the increased weight of the E rated tires and the tires performance on and off road.

Skeets, did you take any measurements of the lift you gained with these shocks? I have been researching these and some and some sites say these shocks are good for 2” while others claim 2.75”. Nice looking truck.

BGFX4 I didn't but in all fairness it looks to be about 2". It didn't matter to me since I only wanted 2". It still has some rake in the rear end so I'm close since 2.5 normally levels them. Thanks for the compliment it looks better with the Fuel wheels and geolanders on it now!
