2wd will get you through a lot of places. Especially with an aggressive off road tire and lockers. I have seen a 2wd with a locker and A/Ts go through a muddy road with no problem that a few 4wds with open diffs front and rear with M/Ts got stuck in 10 minutes earlier. For the most part, I hardly ever really needed to put mine in 4WD except in sloppy mud, sand, and some rocks.

For Example

Went through this in 2wd with no problem and even stopped half way.

I had to put it in 4wd once I got to where most of the water was because the mud was too sloppy.

My old truck was a mud machine! Spent a lot of my time pulling out dodge dually's with her.

lets also be realistic here and say that a 2wd with a locker or a LSD is pretty capable…... until it isn't…. then you're wishing you paid for that extra ****….
Ive wished that more than a few times.

Lets just face it! 2wd suck! They are only good for hauling stuff! They are not good for off roading! It is dumb and pointless to lift a 2wd! If your trying to mud in a 2wd your an idiot! Even if you do have a locker, 4 wheels spinning is better than 2 wheels! I don't care if you have a locker, a lift, and mud tires you still don't have those front tires pulling! You will not and cannot follow me wherever I put my 4x4, you will get stuck! Just this last weekend we went up a trail where I had to use my front wheel to get a side bit on the trail!

If a 4wd has open diffs front & rear with no form of wheel spin control like the new trucks, then it is just spinning two tires just like a 2wd with a locker.

Well I have a rear locker and the front is limited slip! So 2wd still suck and with a 4wd you still have the front pulling

Oh I am not saying the a 2wd with a locker is ultimately better than a 4wd. I was just saying that both are technically 2wd since only two tires spin at a time if the 4wd has open diffs which a vast majority of 4wd are open diffs. If you ad lockers or LSD to the 4wd, then the 2wd with lockers cannot compete.

True but i still think a 4wd with open diff is better than a 2wd with lockers! Cause you have one pulling and one pushing!

Depends on the situation. If one front and one rear tire are off the ground then you are done in an open diff 4wd. Even if one rear tire is in the air, the 2wd with a locker would get through. That is about the only advantage a 2wd locker has over the 4wd open diff.

I've haven't "off road" my 2wd. I don't really like the idea of putting stress on the truck more then I got to. But I've had to go through couple muddy fields, and a muddy loging road before on the farm for hunting. And I get stuck like crazy! I just have regular tires. I think the ltx's
