It honestly makes absolutely no difference to me what you do with your truck, if you lift it or not, couldn't care less. Good luck with whatever it is you are attempting to accomplish.

Spend some money and do it right.

I know lots of guys who are cheap and those guys get nowhere. It makes sense to be thrifty and spend cash smart but if you want to lift your truck, it may cost a bit more to do it right at the start but you'll be spending a lot more down the road if you do it wrong.

I cannot say enough good things for BDS lifts. I had one in my old Chevy and I took that truck through more stuff then my Jeep. Everytime I took my Ford in those places it broke and when it was lift parts, I had to pay for them out of my own pocket. BDS will send you new parts for free if you tear up their stuff.

Not only that but you have the piece of mind. You have a good, proper lift with nothing but the best components and you may be too cheap for that to mean anything for you but it's important to be safe. If something fails while you're driving, it will cost a lot more then $400.

If you don't want to spend the money to do it right, don't do it. Sometimes you can get away with cheap stuff but when it comes to the suspension and handling of your truck, you should make sure it's done right. Zone lifts are also great lifts and share common parts and what not with the BDS for a cheaper price without the warranty.

Oh yeah, and buy a kit. It will cost 3x more (and then some) to piece together a lift piece by piece. If you can't afford to drop the cash on it up front, then wait and save some money. It's not a cheap thing to do and installed with tires and what not, you're looking at $4000 or so so if you need to wait on some cash, just put some cash aside for a little bit. It'll be cheaper in the end.

Some people don't seem to understand that if you buy good stuff and pay a little more, often times it costs you a lot less down the road. Don't be one of those guys, buy a good lift and have it done right. If you have any problems with installation, take it to a shop and don't Jimmy-Rig it. I've done some backyard hack job lifts for woods trucks and what not and they never hold together or are really all that safe. I'd want it done right if I was driving it even only once a week on the road.
