hey guys, new to the forum so don't hate please.

I currently have a 74 steer puch pinzgauer, it only puts out about 80 hp, its pretty badass. and i have decided that it is time to go faster!
I have decided that I want to purchase an f150, 4x4 definitely, but i am unsure about what year i should buy, if memory serves me correctly the 09-10 puts out about 300hp. if i wanted to up that number which i am sure plenty of you think is more than enough would it make more sense to drop a crate motor in, or just modify it. the transmission would need to be upgraded either way, and I like the idea of being able to control what gear the truck is in, would I simply need a new shifter or a whole new tranny?

You can build any motor up, it comes down to if you want bolt in stuff or how technical are you wanting to get with it. for instance the 5.4 from 98-10 is a decent motor and would because an easy swap for say the gt500 motor and make some serious power. Pretty easy to do and you can find a 98-03 body for pretty cheap these days.

More details and we would probably be able to help out more such as what exactly you want to do with the truk

The ultimate creat motor to 'drop' in would be the 5.8 Shelby motor. Have you drove a 09-10 5.4? You might be happy withit as is.
