Who uses wheel locks and what style/ brand do you like?
I am going to be getting some new wheels and tires soon and I am shopping around for the best wheel locks. I am kind of paranoid because a buddy of mine told me that the spline type wheel locks are pretty much worthless because a thief can just hammer a specific size of socket onto each lock real hard, and it will slip over the lock making it easy to just zip that lock off..
I have seen some other OEM Genuine Ford locking lug nut kits that look like they have a design that would make the method mentioned above impossible, but I am kind of turned off that they are zinc.. They will be covered by the new wheel's center cap, but is zinc a good material for a lug nut?
Has anyone had any experience at all with these type of locking lugs, and if so, could you please share a quick input?
Also, what else do you guys like/ not like? Brands/ styles I should check out? I am just trying to stay away from the spline type locks, and wondering if the ones pictured would be any good?
Any input is much appreciated.

I'm using the OEM Ford ones for the Mustang. Typical OEM quality. Got them free from a test engineer I know.

Hold my beer
I also picked up some Gorilla lugs / locks for my new wheels. Seem nice and robust but I don't have the wheels on yet so I cannot comment beyond that.

Any wheel locks are good for the opportunity theft but the wheel thief looking to steal wheels will be prepared. Discount Tire has literally dozens of wheel keys because people forget them or loose them and need to get the wheels off.

This is similar to what I use to remove locks or stripped lug nuts........ It says it can be used by hand with a breaker bar.
I imagine a thief could carry this in his pocket.......

have you ever had a set of wheels stolen while installed on a vehicle? i haven't. i have however bought vehicles that had wheel locks on them with no key and removing them really wasn't that hard. personally i think locks are a waste of money and time, and a potential headache down the road.
