Default Replacing Only one Tire from Damage

I have 21,000 miles on some General Grabber APT's (All Terrain Tires). I have one front tire that's not repairable due to a nail in the side wall. The tire new has a tread depth of 14/32nd and the other three tires right now are at 10/32nd. The Tire Store told me I should be fine replacing only one since there is quite a bit of tread on the other tires and will only notice a difference in handling for about 1,500 miles of usage. He said he could sell me two tires, but personally he would only replace the one.

Is he correct to replace only one? I always thought you had to replace them in pairs. My truck is a 2016 F150 FX4

Thank you
Greg

You'll be fine just replacing the one.

I'd only do one. I'd probably want it on the rear.

If you had a tire warranty to pay for the tire I'd buy one new one.

Years back I had mud tires all around until I had one that can't be repaired. America's Tire (Discount Tire) protection plan paid for the tire. I decided to replace the mud with an A/T and I bought one A/T. Match set per axle as I changed pattern and one was nearly worn out.
