Default PSI 43 on stock 265/60/18 too high?

I have the stock hankook HT 265/60/18. The door panel says cold psi 43. That just seems high to me. Is this accurate?

Too me, yes. I aired mine up to 40psi and it rode skateboard. Let it down to 35 and it rode much better.

I presume your sticker said 43 too? Any noticeable change in mpg or tire wear dropping tire pressure to 35.

That's strange...I have the same tires and my sticker says 35 psi (2016 XLT SCAB).

PS Those tires look WAY too small for these trucks. I just swapped mine out for Michelin LTX A/T2 275/70/18.

Weird the difference in psi. Yeah they look small. When I wear them out, I'm going with the size you have.

Mine is older, 2006. Someone set me straight, but I believe that psi is a load recommendation. So if you hauling to the heavy limit of the truck, you'd have to air up the tires for support or they'd overheat and fail. Some tires say 44psi cold. I was going by the tire psi... high pressure made it ride bad. 32-35 seems about right. Aired up tires will increase mileage maybe a mile or so, but at the cost of comfort and premature wear.

So this may be the recommended pressure when towing or maxing out my payload?
If so, where would I find out the recommended tire pressure for everyday driving?

Here's my sticker........still makes no sense to me how the same tires can have two different recommended pressures. Any ideas? Did one of us get the wrong sticker?

I talked to someone in the service department at the dealership to make sure 43 was the recommended pressure. He said to go with whatever is on the sticker. I told him it seems high but he didn't have any opinion about it.

We must have different trucks......the maximum load figures are different. Mine is 2016 XLT 4x4 with 6.5ft bed.
