Default Nitto Trail Grapplers

Hey guys,

I've been researching the Nitto Trail Grappler tires but have seen many mixed opinions. To start out, I love the looks of the Nitto Trail Grapplers but wouldn't been using them for off-roading at all. I would mostly be using them on streets and highways.

I've seen some posts saying that you can get over 50,000+ miles on them if you constantly rotate them, but most of them used it for off-road purposes. So I was wondering if any of you used it only on-road? Is it worth the awesome look?

I'm looking to get 295/70/18 tires and am still open to other suggestions as well. The Nitto Terra Grapplers seem like it would be best for my driving instances but they aren't aggressive looking at all. What do you guys think?

Thanks for your help!

Jacob

I have ran the 35" Nitto trail Grapplers on my last 2 Jeeps and LOVED them. They clean very well when running mud (what I like), they do very well in snow and have pretty good road manners and are not overly loud. But they are a heavy tire.
In our current life style we don't wheel as aggressive as we once did and the Jeep spend more time on the road and even though I loved the look of the trail grappler I now run the 35" Nitto EXO. A little less aggressive tread, lighter, better road manners and wears well. Been running the set I have now for a year and they look like new.
Take it for what its worth and good luck looking.

I am running a set of 295/65/20's now.. they have about 20k miles on them now. They are wearing well but, not as good as my last set of BFG KM2's did. the Nitto's are a hell of a lot cheaper than the BFG's.. not loud and have pretty good pavement manners and decent in snow and rain.

I Ran this tire in this size and was very happy with that it. Great tire and great price. I'm definitely considering putting these on my new truck as well.

I've got the Trail Grapplers. They were my neighbors first, he used them on street only. He towed his commercial fishing/crabbing boat about 2 hours every single day when they were on his Tundra. All highway. He loved them but swapped to Toyo A/T's because the Trails were just to heavy, loud, and rough for him. I got them from him and immediately saw what he meant, they are loud and can be rough especially for driving all city driving. Between he and I I think they have about 40,000 miles on them, they are getting close to the end of their life and I plan on replacing them with Cooper STT Pros or maybe Toyo R/T.

Really appreciate the advice. Glad to hear you enjoyed the Nitto Trails! I looked into the Nitto EXO's because that sounds exactly like what I would want, an aggressive looking tire, but still great for road-only use. Unfortunately it doesn't look like they carry the tire in a 295, but they do in a 285. Will definitely consider this as it looks like a great tire.

Thanks again for the help!

Mickey Thompson ATZ looks aggressive also yet still quiet and smooth on the highway.
