Anyone who thinks that the terra's are an off road tire are crazy. They are an AT just like Bridgestone, Goodyear, Firestone, etc. make. They are a street tire with a deeper, more agressive tread pattern for snow, rain, and dirt roads that can get muddy. They aren't for off-roading, mudding, or driving out through cow fields or in soft sand. Do these things and you may need a tow.
The trail grapplers are just that, an off-road tire that also works well for the street. Deep lugs for sand, muddy areas, and I found out they work well in snow. But once again, these are not a MUD tire. They work in mud, but not as well as the mud grapplers. I've even seen mud grapplers sink out of sight in a swampy area (that wasn't pretty).
Trails have a hum to them when on the road, but not as bad as a mud.
I'm going with the Terra's for winter because they do have a good agressive pattern for snow and I don't plan on going off-roading in the winter. Plus the Terra's have more contact with the road because the lugs are not spaced so far apart. This is better for traction in icy conditions, or when there is just a thin layer of snow on the road. The trails excel in deeper snow where the lugs can really bite.

I didn't mean they won't go in sand. They will go in sand and mud to some degree, but that's not their specialty and a less experienced operator, or a less than favorable condition can cause you to get stuck a whole lot easier than a trail grappler would. My point was they are a street tire that has some off-road capabillities due to the more agressive design, just like any other AT has.

They would be perfect for me too, and I may switch to them when the Trails finally wear out. That should be a while since they are only used half season. I just liked the aggressive look of the Trails better. My Terra's should be in next week for my stock rims.

The salt on the roads up here tends to eat at the clear-coat on the wheels. Hasn't seemed to effect the stock wheels, but I have seen aftermarkets get pretty screwed up from it.
