Need Help Choosing Tires
Grabber APT
Terra Grappler G2
Hey guys. Newbie here. 2018 XLT Supercrew 4x4. Currently has a stock suspension but I'm planning on adding the Bilstein 5100s in front and back. Will probably go with the medium 1.25" setting on the fronts. This truck is my daily driver, our family vehicle and it rarely goes off pavement. I'm looking at a set of black 18x9 Method NV305s with an 18mm offset. I'm going for a clean, slightly aggressive look, without sacrificing too much in terms of noise, mileage, comfort, handling, etc...
I've chosen a tire size of 275/70/18 (33") vs my factory 275/65/18 (32"). The only p-rated tire I have found in this size is a General Grabber APT. My dilemma is if this tire will look aggressive enough with the new wheels and the levelled out suspension. I'm not going for a monster truck look by any means. But I also don't want to regret not getting the right tire to match the setup. From a pure looks perspective, I liked the old BFG KOs (not the KO2s) as they had a great looking sidewall imo.
Currently I like the look of the Nitto Terra Grappler G2s, however, these do not come in a P-rating. They are E-rated only in this size. And...yes, I'm set on a 275/70/18 tire.
DIFFERENCES IN TIRE WEIGHT:
Stock Goodyear Wrangler Fortitude HT: 39lbs/corner
General Grabber APT P-Rated: 42lbs/corner
Nitto Terra Grappler G2 E-Rated: 52lbs/corner
QUESTIONS:
1. Do you think the Nitto's extra 10lbs per corner of unsprung weight will have a significant effect on noise, ride quality, mileage and acceleration? I'm currently averaging around 20mpg, have very little road noise and love the acceleration from the 2.7EB.
2. Based on the above criteria, I know I should get the Grabber APTs from a functional standpoint. However, let's be honest, I'm doing it all for looks The problem is I haven't seen many customized trucks with similar looking, less aggressive tires. I'm guessing the 33" diameter will help a bit but not sure if it will be enough. Do you think the Grabber APT tires will look odd with the NVs and a levelled out truck?
3. Any other P-rated or lighter weight options that I'm missing in this size?
4. Anybody go through a similar decision making process? What did you end up going with and how did it turn out?
My "what would Snoop do brain" says to go all in. But my "dad brain" says I may be sacrificing a lot of what I love about this truck for looks.
BTW this forum is outstanding. Glad to be a part of it. Thanks in advance for any feedback you guys can provide.

Understand your dilemma. Finding the right tire can be difficult. I’m currently running Falken Wildpeak AT3 in LT275/70/R18 on my 2018 screw. Yes, they are 10 ply and a bit heavier than P rated. Yes, they are heavier but they also have 18/32 tread depth 33.4 diameter and something like 55,000 mile warranty. They are also fairly reasonable over tires like BFG. Note I had bfgs on my 2011 and they were too hard compound and didn’t ride as nice.
These are nice tread pattern and as quiet as the MIchelin LTX At tires I had on before with much better traction. If your doing the lift get the tires you want. Here’s a good link for tire diameters, etc.

Thanks for the input. Good point about tread life. That's one thing that I noticed about the Grabber APTs - they only have a 500 treadwear rating and 11/32 of tread depth. Nice truck btw. Is that Guard Metallic? I have the same color...they're pretty rare.

That’s a pretty soft tire. It will give fairly good traction but likely won’t last as long. I believe the Wildpeak has a 640 treadwear rating. It’s difficult finding an aggressive (all terrain) tire that does quickly jump into the LT ratings. I can tell you I don’t notice any significant difference in perceived power with the heavier tire. The diameter has a bit more effect on mileage as noted on the odometer- about 1.5 mpg but this is also due to the revolutions per mile difference from OEM.

Discount tire direct. Deep tread c-rated instead of e. I know a few people who run them in p rated and they have had good luck.
