Question Question on rim sizes

Will i have enough clearance inside my rims to put 16s on my truck I have a 2001 F-150 with stock 17 inch rims. Some people have told me i couldnt fit 16s and other say i have also what size tires are the largest i can go if its stock except for torsion bars cranked up all the way. And whats a good recommended tire for the highway and also mud in the winter time hunting.

smallest rim is a 16. The biggest tire is a 285/75/16 with out any rubbing.
