i want the tire to stick out a little
right know i have 275/70/17 bfg all terrians on stock rims and the tires dont stick out at all there not even flush with the fender. so im thinking of buying new rims not tires ( just got the tires) so that they are flush with the fender or stick very little, but i dont know what size rim like what backspaceing, also what about wheel spacers are they a good idea?

i have 17X9 wheeels with a -12mm offset. if you get the same size your wheels should stick out about 2" past the fender. i think that you can get a -6mm offset as well. the -6mm will only let the tires stick out about an inch.

The approved rim width range per BFG for their 275/70-17 All-Terrain T/A KO is 7" to 8.5" with 8" being the most ideal. That being said, I would look for a wheel that is 8" wide and has either a 0mm (4.5" B/S) or -6mm offset (4.25" B/S).
Compared to where your wheels/tires sit now (17x7.5 +14), size 17x8 ET0 with the 275/70-17's mounted will stick out about .6" further. Size 17x8 ET-6 will stick out .8" further. Size 17x8.5 ET-6 will stick the assembly out 1.1" further out.

I think this is an excellent place to post my concern and questions.
I have been looking through a great part of the thread and section here trying to find an answer to my question without having to post a new question if it already has been asked and answered.
This thread so far comes REALLY close.
Here's the deal y’all....
I have a 2005 Lariat 4X4 SuperCrew with the 18” wheels and I know the selection of oversize tires for 18” wheels is not as diverse as for the 16” and 17” selections therefore I am limited on what to choose. I want an A/T tire because my truck is a daily driver and also a toy. So far, and from doing some research I have found two sizes that may fit the bill: 305/60R18 and 285/65R18.
According to tire size calculators and comparison charts, my tires (275/65R18) look like this....
32.07” overall diameter
10.82” section width
7.03” sidewall height
The 305/60R18 looks like:
32.40” overall diameter
12.00” section width
7.20” sidewall height
The 285/65R18 looks like:
32.58” overall diameter
11.22” section width
7.29” sidewall height
I guess what I would like to know is, does anyone have any of these two larger tires on stock 18” wheels and on a stock 4X4 SuperCrew?
Do you all know what else is available out there in an oversize tire without having to lift the truck past a simple leveling kit (which I intend to do when I put the tires on the truck anyway) of about 1.5”-2”?
Does anyone have pics related to this that I can maybe look through to get an idea of what I’m looking for?
Any input or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
