Default Continental TerrainContact A/T vs. Cooper Discover A/T3 XLT

I am in need of tires and I have narrowed my choices down to the above tires size 275/70-18 (what I have now). Both have a 60k mile warranty on them in that size. The Cooper a/t3 XLT is a heavier version of the a/t3 (but is newer to the market) and weighs in at roughly 57 pounds per tire. The Continental weighs in at roughly 60 pounds per tire. The Continental was consumer reports best A/T tire in 2017 and 2018 with the Coopers being mid pack. Also, they are priced pretty close to each other. I am in need of a tire that is a good all around tire with good traction both on road (a bit more important) and off road. Also a tire that is decent in the snow and wet. I will say that I am leaning more for the Cooper (but will go with the better tire) as Cooper is local to me (their world head quarters is about 30 miles away) Both tires are built in the US which is a must for me. Does anyone have any experience with either tire? Thank you

I'm in the same boat and looking for new 275/70r18. The Continentals are 59.8 lbs and the Coopers are 57 lbs based on the links provided. I'd go with the lighter of the 2.

Just throwing it out there, the 2 tires I am deciding between due to their lighter weight are:

Toyo Open County A/T II: 50 lbs
Nitto Terra Grappler G2: 52.27 lbs

On 18s we have to go with LT tires, so the lighter weight is very important to me.

Good catch on the weight. The 54 pounds was for the a/t3s. I had both weights wrote down and picked the wrong one. lol
