Default BF Goodrich AT vs General Grapper AT2

Has anyone tested/reviewed these tires in comparison ? Tire tread seems almost identical. I heard the BG has a thicker sidewall for weight towing/carrying but I cannot confirm it.

Anyone know what the average longevity of either of these two are ? Mostly highway driving. Your thoughts ???

Grabbers are on sale for cheaper than the BG's... so price is leaning me towards the Grabbers... but I dont want to buy junk if I can help it.

grabber AT2's are junk. the siping on them is only about 1/2 way deep in the tread and after they get some miles on them, they become HORRID in the rain. they are also a very hard compound which complicates the rain issues.

drove a ranger periodically years ago that had them, after a while it got to the point 4x4 was needed to take off in the rain if it was on any kind incline.

Just wanted to thank "MPETE". I was shopping between the same two tires, was leaning towards the Grabbers also for the cheaper price but had been hesitant due to the more shallow tread. You probably just saved me a huge headache so my truck and I thank you!

The Grabber's aren't that bad...My bro had a set of 31x10.50 grabber at2's on his Dakota, prior to him running them, my buddy had them on his '79 K5 before he lifted it. They were fine, neither of them had any issues with them and I drove my bro's Dakota a few times, they were totally fine..I had 33x10.50 BFG AT's on my '95 F150 before I lifted it, and I'll be honest, they were incredible. Snow, Rain, Mud, they took me everywhere I needed to go and rode real nice on the road. I gave them to my cousin so his K5 would pass inspection, but those tires dry-rotted before they ran out of tread. All in all, if you're on a budget and you want all the benefits of a tried and trued AT, go with the Generals. If you have the extra cash, pony up for the BFG's. Just make sure you check the load range on both so you're comparing apples to apples. If you buy a load range C General AT2 and a load range E BFG, of course the BFG's are going to last longer. Hope that helps

Actually was very helpful. Comparing identical load ranges the Generals came in just less than $50 cheaper per tire. Adding a minimal price difference to the fact that more than 3/4's of my friends are running the BfG's, I think I'm going to pony up the extra $185. Thanks for the advice.

Anytime..and trust me, you won't regret the BFG's, great tires! There are a lot of people on here who will argue over BFG vs. Nitto but the BFG's are tried and true and its to each their own, but I think you're making a wise choice.

I have the BFG A/Ts and the best thing I can say about them is that I will buy them again when these are worn out. They handle well in all conditions and track well in the deep stuff.
