Default Newbie lift/tires help

Just got a 16' 4x4 ecoboost. Almost all city/highway driving. Want to make it look more aggressive while still remembering I'm a 40 year old Dad with two small kids to get in and out of truck.

Have been recommended to level out the front w/2.5" metal spacers and then add 275/60/20 AT tires to the stock rims. I want to keep my relatively good gas mileage and comfortable ride if possible, but gain an aggressive look.

Recommendations on tires? KO2's, G2's, Toyo AT2s have all been recommended. I was told don't go any bigger than 60 too so I don't have to trim. Was also told the 2.5' pro comp level will be good and installed runs about $500 from 4WheelParts.

Any advice or guidance is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What size are your stock wheels? I have 15 XLT with a level and 35x12.5x18s. I did not have to trim anything. Level is either a 2 or 2.5, don't know as the dealer installed it. Your mileage is going to suffer by going to bigger tires period. I get 15 combined with my setup, and that suits me fine. On the ride, you may want to get a better level kit, like Bilstien, Icon, Fox, or maybe Rancho. There is an increase in price, but it will be worth it for the ride is my understanding. You will also want to swap out your rear shocks. I'm going to switch to Bilstiens when I get new wheels and tires later this year. I'll get 50K out of my Nitto Trail Graps, so I figure why not get new wheels when I have to get new tires? Anyway, sorry for rambling and hoped this helped.

Congratulations on the new truck! What you have already mentioned sounds like you have a good idea of what you are looking for. If you are looking for something for better ride quality but is still cost effective I would suggest the Bilstein 5100 adjustable struts. These would provide 2 inches of lift while getting a monotube shock replacement. If you are looking for just a spacer most any will do and they will all be very similar. As for tires, my personal favorite is the Nitto Terra Grappler G2. I have these on my daily driver and I am very pleased.

Congrats on the truck. I was in the same boat as you, wanting to do some suspension/wheel changes with a young family. I have a '17 platinum Screw and I had a specific criteria. I wanted better on/off road handling (specifically road), wanted it to look 'cool' with different wheels, and have a more aggressive tire for the mountains where I live.

I looked around at different suspension setups, and chose the Icon Stage 1 kit. It gave me about 2.5 in lift, improved the handling, and most important my 3.5 year old can still climb in. It retails for $1700ish, but I got a deal through Stage3 motorsports. If you're the mechanical type you can do the install yourself, however I can barely screw in a lightbulb so I paid for the install.

I went with the method NV wheels. totally subjective thing.

Tires are a totally subjective thing as well. I narrowed it down to the K02's and Duratrac's. Lots of good tires out there, but anything more than two or three choices would make my head explode. Where do you live? Snow? Needed an aggressive all season and I ended getting a deal on the goodyears... Just remember the aggressive tires will have a bit of noise and have a bit of a rougher ride. The 20 inch Hankooks that came with the truck weren't bad, but just didn't look 'cool' to me.

I changed tire size to 18's and I am currently running 275/70/18. I think they fill out nicely and with the lift have required no mods/cutting.

Good luck, looking forward to seeing photos
