Yet another.... Speaker Suggestions for '14
I just picked up a '14 F150 with the Ford "My Touch" non-sony system. The factory speakers are great at making sound, but they are terribly flat.
I don't have the ability to put a sub under my rear seat and I'm not really looking to go crazy, I just want better sound. I'll be keeping the factory head unit w/o adding an amp.
I'm fine with spending around $500 to equip all 4 doors with new speakers, looking for better overall response and a little bit better bass sound would be appreciated. I realize it won't sound like I have 2 sealed 10" subs or anything, but being able to get something is better than nothing.
I listen to pop, alternative rock and occasionally some electronic... never at higher volume (don't think I've ever gone above 60% in my old F150, let alone this one), I appreciate my hearing too much.
Back in the late 90's, I did have some MB Quart Component series in a vehicle (along with 2 JL10W3's, RF Amp, etc), they were awesome.... I just don't know what is comparable now adays, I've been out of the audio game way too long.
Looking at crutchfield, I was eyeballing the Alpine Type R. I don't mind a little work to get something in place, however I'm not interested in a lot of cutting/doing a ton of mods to make something work.

Depends on what you mean by "best". If you want to be able to walk into a store and return them, then find a local brick and mortar and try to get a workable price.
If you're looking to spend as little as possible, you might try something like this:
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...pa_6829cf.aspx
Which is a pretty decent deal when you consider Amazon has them listed here:
I'm going to outfit my SCrew with some 4xKappas as well. But I AM going to switch out the deck and amp them after tax season is over =]
I HAVE read through much of the "1000+" threads here on speakers, and Kappas are by far mentioned more than any other set, fwiw.

I have been trying to get that answer all over the webs. I'm about to pull the trigger on the 682.11s simply because I found a decent deal on them, and I'm assuming they are newer?
The ONE big difference is that the 682.9s are 4 Ohms and the 682.11s are 2 Ohms. Something you'll want to make sure is compatible with the HU you're using.

Well, to add more confusion... following your link to "onlinecarstereo" lists the .9's as 2ohm.
Not sure how well the factory HU likes 2 ohm speakers, but it seems that a lot of people run them w/o issues.

Good catch, on the Amazon listing it has them as both 2 & 4 ohms...
So, they are both technically 2 Ohms, but they perform some voodoo so they perform like 4Ohms on crappy stock wiring, at least that what I understand after reading up on the speaker tech.

682.9 are 2 ohm. Difference from the 11s is that the 9s have a wiring dongle/crossover type thing. The 11s do not.
I had two sets of the 9s. One developed an issue, and I couldnt get them replaced because they were discontinued. So I returned them and went JBL P660C. HUGE improvement. Wish I would've put them in all 4 doors to begin with. Yes, they are 6.5 components but they sound way better to me. Got everything through Sonic Electronix without any issue on the return.
