Speaker, amp, sub install complete
I'm upgrading the sound system in my 2009 FX4 with basic HU, no nav, SYNC. I want to keep the factory HU. I'm putting in a Boston Acoustic 400M amp, JL AudioCP108LG-W3v3 subwoofer, and replacing the existing front and rear speakers with Infinity Reference 6832cf 6x8 speakers. I also ordered a PAC AOEM-FRD24 wiring harness. I've also seen others on this forum using a Metra BT-5520 harness. My question is: What is the difference between the PAC AOEM-FRD24 harness and the Metra BT-5520 harness?

No response? I guess I'll go with the PAC AOEM-FRD24 as I planned and see how it works. I'll take photos thru the process and I'll post more when Im done. I removed the 40 seat and I'm thinking of using that area to install my amp and subwoofer. That way I can still seat four in the truck and I still have all the floor room as storage. However, I may install the amp behind the seat and the sub under the 40 seat. The 40 seat does rest on the sub however, and I don 't think I'd want anybody to sit on the seat after the sub is installed.

Well, I finished my install using the PAC AOEM-FRD24 harness and the systems sounds fantastic. I'm not an audiophile, but I know the difference between a quality sound and a tinny sound. And the sub beats pretty well. I am thrilled with the result. BUT, I gotta dump the OEM head unit. It sucks so bad. I'm sick of being interrupted asking to have the health of my car checked. Everytime I start the truck up all my settings are gone, and I have to reset them. I hate the Synch system. I don't get the attraction. So I am looking at installing a quality after market head unit, maybe the Alpine INA-W900. It's going in my 2009 FX4 Supercrew with Boston Acoustic 400M amp, JL AudioCP108LG-W3v3 subwoofer, and front and rear Infinity Reference 6832cf 6x8 speakers. What I need in a head unit:
GPS Navigation
DVD player
Double-DIN permanent touchscreen (no pop up screens)
Sirius satellite
6 channel preamp outputs (front, rear speakers and sub)
USB input (All my music is on USB, so I need a nice, fast, simple, logical access and control of my music files. This is a very important feature to me. The OEM unit sucks in this regard, too).
Price limit is $1000.
I care not for bluetooth. I use my speaker in the phone.
I'm considering the Alpine INA-W900. $999 at Crutchfield with their great service. $759 at Amazon. Any thoughts?

I decided on the Pioneer P4300 DVD. Great value for the money, $375. Doesnt include the extras like Sirius adapters, Sync adapteres, etc, whic go for another $300, but all in all I think it will be well worth it.
