Where to Mount amps
Hey guys, Just bought me a new 08 F-150 FX4 supercrew . Moved down from a big bad *** 01 F-250 7.3 that was modied (sp) out.
Any way I am having a new stereo installed in my new truck and was wondering about where some of you guys placed your amps. My F-250 I had them mounted behind the back seat in a extended cab.
I am having 2 JLaudio 12 w1v2 installed in custom box underneath back seat. Highs and mids all the way around. I have 1 Jlaudio 6450 amp and one Jlaudio 500 mono block to put somewhere. and am not sure.
Going with the new Clarion Double din DVD with navigation.
My buddy owns a car audio business and installing it just trying to see what you other fellas did with your amps.

I don't have any in mine, but I have installed amps on the back wall behind the seat. The seat is a pain to get out, but your buddy should know how. Btw, you probably won't be able to fit 'em there if you have a power slider.

JThuntsalot,
I concur with the previous post. If you don't have a power sliding rear window, then the back wall will work.
If you have power sliding, you are going to have to do some custom work to get them to fit.
Let's see those subs! Post some pictures.
Best of Luck,
-Tung

Thanks for the info guys, Talked to my buddy today and I think we are just going to put 2 Jlaudio 10 w1v2 subs in it so I don't have to raise the back seat 2 inches. But it should still sound awesome. All I had in my F-250 was JL audio stealthbox with 1 jlaudio 10 in it and it sounded great.
I don't have a powersliding back window in my new truck so it shouldn't be a problem. I will post picks when during the install next week maybe.
Here is a few pics of my old truck and the new one

Even with the power sliding mirror, there should be room on the back wall. I have done JL amps on each side without issues. You do have move the security module on the driver's side a little, though.

I got the jl stealth box for mine and put my amps where my jack should be at and threw it in the tool box. I have put both jl amps and alpine amps in the same place with no issues.

I had my stuff intalled at best buy but they installed my sub amp under the front drivers seat, its a really tight fit, not sure how they did it but thats an option. my truck is a singlecab btw, so I have very lttle space anyways.

back behind the seats is more than sufficient space, under the seats works good, u can get creative and mount under the center console as whell....many options, as long as it has decent ventilation (which all those spaces do) then your in the clear
