What should I know before getting door speakers
Hi all,
So I have updated my head unit with a nice touch screen and now i'm looking into updating the door speakers. Does anyone have any recommendations for what type of door speakers I should get? Also, do I need to purchase anything for the install or do I just buy the speakers and plug and play?
I have a 2007 STX and do not plan on getting an amp

Get any aftermarket speakers youd like, 5x7s or components. Get the metra spaker wire adapters, and theyre plug n play with no splicing.

They're a gateway drug, just say No...
Uh huh.
But seriously. The Kicker's are popular, as well as the Polk's. I've been pleased with my Alpine's. Lots of good speakers out there.

If sticking with the HU as the amp then look into infinity. They have very good sensitivity rating making the most out of the low wattage from stock or aftermarket HU's.
I have infinity Kappas and run them off just a Kenwood HU, it's more than enough speaker and can crank them with windows down.

I would recomend6.'5's over 5x7's. The 6.5's will sound a lot better. You didn't say what cab you have. If you have a regular cab, you might be able to put 6x9's in the back. I just listened to some Kenwoods yesterday that had great bass. Otherwise, I'd consider a small powered sub. That would make a huge difference in the ln the low bass.

Backing up what RES4CUE said... I enjoy my Infinity's as well. I still have the stock head unit and they sound great.

2/4 ohm that will work great with factory head unit. Tweeter install will require the door panel to be removed, but are very much worth it. I replaced the factory Audiophile (L0L) fronts in my 2005 with these. Dedicated crossovers that hide nicely under the window switch panel. Sound superb.
Buy these. No splicing/destroying the factory wiring.

If you buy your speakers from Crutchfield, they include the wiring adapters for free.
I would also recommend getting speaker baffles to protect the back of the speaker.

Buy the plug and play wire adapters for sure. Just about any name brand speaker will sound much better than the factory installed speakers. I'm a fan of the Infinity speakers, don't know how you would go wrong with these.....
